How is Alex Morgan so good? How does she manage to score so many goals? What’s her secret: is it training or her routine? It’s the million-dollar question that no one really has the answer to.
Well, the USWNT’s latest video on Twitter might help us solve some of these queries. Morgan was recently mic’d up for an entire day to give fans some behind the scenes access into a standard day at the office representing the US national team at the Women’s World Cup in Australia.
As it’s to be expected, Morgan spends most of the day training as she and her teammates prepare to take on Vietnam in their debut game of the tournament on July 22.

The video begins in the morning, with Alex starting the day by doing a spot of spinning on a gym bike at the US’s training base at Bay City Park. “According to my Aura ring, I slept for 11 hours and 21 minutes,” she jokingly brags to her teammates, clearly feeling fresh and ready to begin a big day’s training.
Downtime is important for players at big tournaments, and de-stressing is a fundamental part of the day. For Alex, she likes to chill out and watch a series. “Daisy Jones and The Six have not met yet”, she says enthusiastically- a reference to American musical drama Diasy Jones and The Six that she’s enjoying.
Alex then takes to the field for the morning’s training session and engages with teammates with some light-hearted conversation. “Did you know that blue eyes take longer to adapt to the sun,” she says as bright sunlight pierces through the clouds from the first time in a long time in Auckland– it’s currently winter in New Zealand.
The rest of the day involved a ‘rondo’, a short press conference and signing autographs for young fans. “I heard you’re one of the best players”, says an adorable young supporter- a comment which makes Morgan smile.
Morgan will spearhead the USWNT attack in what is her fourth World Cup. She, like several other teammates, is trying to achieve a famous ‘three-peat’ by winning her third consecutive tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
