Caitlin Clark was selected as the first pick overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. These past few years, she has taken female basketball to new heights with an exposure that we have never seen before. She is now the Indiana Fever star player.

Yet, Caitlin Clark’s ascent to stardom is marred by a stark reality. Despite her undeniable talent and popularity, her salary has sparked controversy. Her four-year rookie deal will see her earn just over $330 K, with a modest $76 K in her first year in the WNBA.

Despite this, it looks like Clark is heading to a massive payday in endorsements. Shams Charania, Mike Vorkunov, and Ben Pickman from The Athletic reported that the former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar is nearing a lucrative endorsement deal with Nike.

According to the report, the deal would be in the eight figures, and she is expected to get a signature Nike shoe for the next season. Clark had an agreement with the American brand. Still, it expired after the NCAA season ended, and several other sports manufacturers, like Adidas and Under Armour, tried to sign the rookie star to an endorsement deal.

Caitlin Clark’s impact in female basketball

The impact of Clark’s presence on the game cannot be overstated. The staggering viewership numbers for the Iowa vs. South Carolina championship game speak volumes, with a record-breaking 18.9 million viewers tuning in to witness the historic clash.

This marked the first time in history that women’s basketball outdrew its male counterpart, a testament to Clark’s magnetic appeal and the growing popularity of the women’s game.
