Helen Skelton was touched on Thursday night after she had a baby goat named after her in a sweet moment with her co-stars on her latest instalment of Springtime on the Farm on Channel 5.

The Cumbrian former Strictly Come Dancing star had a dramatic moment on the newest episode of the farming show tonight, filmed from Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley in South Yorkshire.

During a piece to camera, Helen Skelton helped co-star Jules Hudson and several farm staff deliver a kid – a baby goat – which was in danger of dying.

Helen said: “In my head I thought his head was twisted back because it just didn’t feel quite right.”

Co stars Rob and Dave explained how dangerous his birth was as he told Helen: “Well there weren’t a lot of room but you did the right thing you pulled downhill, the head straightened itself out and it came out, well pretty nice really. It’s always better thinking twice than being reckless because once you’ve pulled and the head’s gone back then it’s in real danger.”

Helen added: “She’s a little belter of course.”

Rob added, naming the kid goat after his co-star: “I think it’s a Helen.”

The heartwarming moment came just minutes after an announcement by Channel 5 at the end of the preceding ad break.

There, the channel announced that Our Yorkshire Farm star Reuben Owen’s new farming show, Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales, will start next week.

He will be joined by his girlfriend Sarah and his best friend Tommy, with whom he runs his business in a remote village in the Yorkshire Dales.

Reuben Owen: Life In The Dales will be broadcast on Thursday, April 28 at 8pm on Channel 5 and will run for six episodes.

It’s Reuben’s first full solo venture since his three-part miniseries Beyond the Yorkshire Farm: Reuben & Clive, with his dad Clive Owen.

That spinoff came after Amanda Owen and Clive Owen, stars of Our Yorkshire Farm for six years, announced their divorce and Channel 5 subsequently cancelled their hit farming reality show.

Reuben’s miniseries pulled in better viewing figures than Amanda Owen’s More 4 venture, so Channel 5 probably has high hopes for Reuben’s full series.
