Andre Onana has reflected on a ‘tough’ performance as Manchester United narrowly survived a dramatic Coventry City comeback to book their place in the FA Cup final.

Fate seemed set for United, as they led 3-0 up before the hour mark. But, the Championship side dug deep, equalising in the 95th minute to force Erik ten Hag’s side into extra time.

A fourth goal almost came for Mark Robins’ side, but was ruled offside by VAR, with Man Utd then going on to win the game via a penalty shootout.

Red Devil’s shotstopper Onana believed ‘individual errors’ contributed to the team’s struggles.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: “It’s a mixed feeling. We went through, that’s why we came here.

“It was a tough game at the end. We were in control. After so many individual mistakes we conceded three goals. The most important thing is to win. We have to look forward to the coming games.

“Somehow we lost control of the game. We are Manchester United. We must win. We feel good, we feel happy to be in a final. We’ll come back here to win.

“The most important thing is the victory. We’re in the final, that’s what matters.”

Manchester United’s slim victory means they will now face Manchester City in the final, after Pep Guardiola’s side defeated Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday.

The semi-final results mean that, for the second season in a row, the FA Cup final will be a Manchester derby. Last year’s final saw Guardiola’s side beat the Red Devils – one of three trophies they won in a famous treble season.

United will return to league action on Wednesday, when they host Sheffield United.
