From Get Out to Nope, Jordan Peele has been involved in quite a few TV and movie projects through his production company, Monkeypaw Productions.
Peele started his career in sketch comedy as a cast member on Fox’s MAD TV series. He branched out with Keegan-Michael Key, whom he frequently collaborated with on a number of projects, including Key & Peele.
After founding his film and TV production company in 2012, Peele pivoted to writing and directing critically acclaimed movies, including Get Out, Us and Nope. Peele, who has made cameos in many of his projects, has produced several TV shows, as well, such as Hunters and The Twilight Zone.
Peele previously opened up about what he prioritizes in his work, sharing during a 2019 Q&A, “The way I look at it. I get to cast Black people in my movies. I feel fortunate to be in this position where I can say to Universal, ‘I want to make a $20 million horror movie with a Black family.’ And they say yes.”
He added: “I don’t see myself casting a white dude as the lead in my movie. Not that I don’t like white dudes. But I’ve seen that movie. It really is one of the best, greatest pieces of this story, is feeling like we are in this time — a renaissance has happened and proved the myths about representation in the industry are false.”

After five seasons on their sketch TV series, Peele and Key reunited on screen to play cousins who infiltrate a gang in order to retrieve their stolen kitten. Keanu, which was released in 2016, featured Tiffany Haddish, Method Man, Nia Long, Will Forte and Keanu Reeves, as well.
The 2017 movie marked Peele’s directorial debut, in addition to him being credited as a writer and producer. Get Out, which starred Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, LaKeith Stanfield, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones and Catherine Keener, mixed horror and comedy to tell a story about racism. It has since received major accolades, including an Academy Award for best original screenplay.
Peele partnered up with Spike Lee, Jason Blum and more producers to bring the 2018 film to life. Based on the 2014 memoir, BlacKkKlansman introduces a Black detective (John David Washington), who attempts to infiltrate and expose the local Ku Klux Klan chapter.
Peele once again balanced directing, writing and producing all at once for 2019’s Us. The psychological horror film is about a family that is kidnapped by menacing doppelgängers with Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke as the main couple targeted by the “Tethered.”
The anthology series, which was released on YouTube Premiere in 2019, introduces a near future where a city is divided into two and is segregated by economic class. Weird City featured a star-studded cast, including Dylan O’Brien, Ed O’Neill, LeVar Burton, Rosario Dawson, Michael Cera, Mark Hamill, Laverne Cox, Sara Gilbert, Steven Yeun and Yvette Nicole Brown.
The 2019 true-crime docuseries focused on the assault and subsequent court case involving John and Lorena Bobbitt. (Lorena made headlines in the ’90s when she severed John’s penis with a knife while he was asleep in bed. She was acquitted of assault by reason of insanity. John, meanwhile, had his penis successfully reattached through surgery.)
A reimagining of the OG Twilight Zone series, Peele’s version lasted for two seasons before ending in 2021. The Twilight Zone dealt with a wide variety of topics including the supernatural, racism, social issues, alien invasions and more.
Peele worked alongside director Nia DaCosta to bring Candyman to life in 2021. The supernatural horror film introduces an artist who started to explore the history of Candyman and his connection to housing projects in Chicago.
Candyman stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Colman Domingo. Vanessa Williams, Virginia Madsen and Tony Todd reprise their roles from the original film.
Based on the novel of the same name, HBO’s Lovecraft Country is about a young Black man who travels across the segregated United States in the 1950s in search of his missing father. The cast of the 2020 series featured Jurnee Smollett, Jonathan Majors, Aunjanue Ellis, Courtney B. Vance and more.
Kaluuya and Keke Palmer play horse-wrangling siblings who attempt to capture evidence of an unidentified flying object that is threatening their home. Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott, Brandon Perea and Keith David also star in the 2022 film, which Peele directed, wrote and produced.
The action thriller centers around Kid (Dev Patel), who uses the money he makes from an underground fight club to infiltrate the social scene of India’s wealthiest and most corrupt. Kid’s main motivation is seeking revenge for the murder of his mother, but he ultimately becomes the savior of the poor and powerless people tormented by their leaders.
In addition to starring in Monkey Man, Patel directed, wrote the script and produced the film. The 2024 movie was originally bought by Netflix, but Peele stepped in and brought Monkey Man to Universal under his Monkeypaw company.
