Dee Dee subjected her perfectly healthy daughter to unnecessary medical treatments, surgeries, and medications. She isolated Blanchard from the outside world, closely monitoring every move. She also portrayed her as severely disabled to gain sympathy and financial assistance.

In June 2015, Blanchard, then 23 years old, conspired with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to murder her mother. She felt trapped and desperate to escape her mother’s control, and the pair believed that the only way to achieve freedom was by killing Dee Dee.

Godejohn stabbed Dee Dee to death in her home while Blanchard hid in the bathroom. However, after Dee Dee died Blanchard posted on her and her mom’s Facebook account, writing that her mother was dead, having been murdered.

Blanchard admitted in interviews that she hoped her Facebook post would lead to the discovery of her mother’s body. This post alerted authorities and even though Blanchard and her ex-boyfriend fled to Godejohn’s home in Wisconsin they were apprehended days later.

Godejohn is still serving a life sentence with no chance of parole at the Potosi Correctional Center. As for Blanchard, after her release from prison, she said she is ready to expand every facet of her new life.

Just a month after her early release from prison, Blanchard, as we previously reported, surprised her social media followers with a stunning new haircut showcased in a weekend post.

Besides flaunting her revamped locks, Gypsy shared a slideshow on January 28, 2024, capturing the moment she chopped off several inches of her hair for a meaningful cause.

Blanchard showcased her freshly trimmed locks on her now-deleted Instagram and TikTok. She flaunted her new look, accompanied by a snapshot of eight inches of hair she cut off for a cause dear to her heart.

She captioned the posts, “It’s never too late [to] start reinventing yourself, even if it is something subtle like a new hairstyle. 🩷 To all the girls, boys, and [non-binary]…Enjoy life, express yourself in whatever creative ways [make] you happy. Life is too short to hide your beauty. Let the world see you shine!⭐️”

In a subsequent update, Blanchard, who spent seven years incarcerated following a 2016 guilty plea for the second-degree murder of her mother used the occasion to enlighten her followers about the significance of hair donation.

In a video message, she expressed her long-standing desire to contribute her hair to a charity creating wigs for individuals facing hair loss, particularly those undergoing cancer treatments.

Gypsy disclosed her plan to send her hair to “The Great Cut,” a charity dedicated to providing hair replacements for children dealing with medical-related hair loss.

Addressing her history of hair loss due to Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, Gypsy shared her challenging journey and advocated for hair donation.

Reflecting on her childhood experiences, including a falsified cancer diagnosis and head shaving by her mother, she empathetically urged her social media followers to consider donating their hair.

Gypsy opened up about the emotional impact of her own hair loss, “For me, not having hair was really hard on my self-esteem. So, I just want to do something to help other people that are going through issues with hair loss because I know the only time that I ever felt beautiful is when I was wearing a wig.”
