Lionel Messi‘s decision to join MLS has revolutionized the soccer landscape of the country. As the whole world gears up for his unveiling as an Inter Miami player this Sunday, South Florida has begun reaping the benefits of having the GOAT in town.
While Messi believed he would leave the global spotlight a bit by coming to the U.S., it doesn’t seem like the Argentinian will be able to buy groceries without some added security going forward. On Thursday night, pictures surfaced of Messi checking out with groceries at Publix, the largest supermarket chain in Florida.
While it’s a bit surprising Messi was able to gather all the groceries before being noticed at the checkout line, fans began asking for pictures with the superstar and Messi did not deny them the opportunity of getting that cherished photo.
Many would give their life in order to take a picture with the soccer legend.
Messi’s sons were running around killing time while their father attended to some media duties.
Will we see Messi in public again?
This latest supermarket trip may end up leading to less public visits along that line in the future for Messi. He wanted to live a more anonymous life in South Florida, but the truth is that he is too recognizable to fly under the radar.
Especially in a Spanish-dominant city like Miami. He’ll have to be a little more discreet next time he goes out.
