With the 2024 boxing year just getting underway, rumors are flying high and fast. A potential Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao rematch. A long-awaited Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol undisputed bout. The list goes on.
While all of that happens, Terence “Bud” Crawford continues to bide his time. And while he does, two super lightweight world champions are clamoring to get a piece of him: Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez. And all three now appear to be in a hate triangle.
Teofimo Lopez vs Devin Haney vs Terence Crawford
A couple of weeks ago, Crawford and Haney sized each other up in person. A couple of days ago, Lopez called out Haney for not accepting his offer for a potential fight, claiming Haney ducked him several times.
Today, Bill Haney – Devin’s father and trainer – took a shot at Lopez while explaining why they didn’t offer a substantial purse for a fight: “you’re not the best at 140 pounds“.
While the Haney family deal with the fallout of Lopez’s comments, Teofimo appears to already be moving on to a different victim.
During an Instagram live stream on the same day as Haney’s response, Lopez says he “absolutely” wants Crawford: “I aim for greatness… Crawford says he’s the best, I know I’m the best, let’s make the fight happen“.
Within the same stream, Lopez continued to claim that Haney is “hiding” from him.
Boxing fans are probably hoping all three of them could fight each other at the same time, but we’ll have to settle for two of them at a time. Hopefully sometime in 2024.
