Chelsea suffered more frustration in front of goal as they were held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men failed to find the net for the second game running despite creating chances throughout at the Vitality Stadium.
And they ended the game indebted to goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for two excellent saves which prevented this being a more costly trip to the south coast.
Chelsea have now one just one of their opening five league games, at home to new boys Luton.
Bournemouth are still waiting for their first three points under new manager Andoni Iraola but this was a better one for them than Chelsea.

The visiting side dominated the ball but were wasteful when it mattered in the final third
The first half quickly slipped into a familiar pattern for Chelsea – them dominant but lacking sharpness in front of goal to benefit from all their possession and having to be wary of switching off at the other end.
Enzo Fernandez fired their first warning with a skidding second-minute shot before Mykhailo Mudryk, on his first start of the season, burst to the byline, crossed and Conor Gallagher’s attempt to turn the ball in was deflected over.
Raheem Sterling dragged a shot well off target and Chelsea then created one of their best chances of the half.
Mudryk and Jackson linked up well and the latter gathered in the Ukrainian’s return pass, drove goalwards and fired against the post.
When Bournemouth threatened for the first time it might well have resulted in them going ahead. The chance was that good. Chelsea were not alert to a quick Bournemouth free-kick and Ryan Christie got away down the right channel.

He slid a ball across the slick, rain-soaked surface to the back post where the recalled Dango Ouattara was waiting.
He had found himself in space unnoticed and looked certain to score but Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez flew across his goal, full length and with everything he had, making himself big enough to block brilliantly.
His save was matched by a reaction one at the other end from Neto to deny Gallagher, which kept the score level at the break.
Chelsea thought they had opened the scoring six minutes into the second half. Mudryk was fouled on the edge of the box by Max Aarons, earning Chelsea a free-kick which Sterling bent against the woodwork.
As it crashed down it was millimetres from going over the line but Levi Colwill followed up with a low finish to make sure the ball did cross the line.

Unfortunately for Chelsea and the young defender his celebrations of his first Blues goal were cut short as he was flagged offside.
A period of Bournemouth pressure followed which included Lewis Cook firing straight at Sanchez and a couple of moments when Chelsea had to defend a little desperately to keep the ball out.
A break in play disrupted Bournemouth’s flow, allow Chelsea to settle and they were soon on the front foot again.
Substitute Cole Palmer was quickly involved, earning a corner when his attempt to squeeze a shot through Lloyd Kelly’s legs led to a Chelsea corner.
From it, Jackson got to the opposite byline and squeezed in a low cross which sparked panic and a mini-scramble, though Neto was able to flap the ball away from the lurking Colwill.
As the game entered the final 20 minutes it remained in the balance and, for all their continued dominance, Chelsea’s failure to score left them vulnerable while Bournemouth gained encouragement.

Justin Kluivert created a promising situation with a cross from the right but Dominic Solanke’s attempted overhead kick appeared to distract teammate Marcus Tavernier.
Philip Biling had a free-kick deflected wide and Solanke drew another brilliant stop from Sanchez.
He collected Biling’s cut back and fired goalwards through Chelsea bodies.
Sanchez had dived, anticipating the shot to his left, but stuck out his right leg to keep the ball out.
Solanke then headed another attempt soon after over.
Back on the attack came Chelsea. Palmer led a break and appeared to over-hit his pass wide to Sterling but he managed to dig out a cross, returning the ball to his former Manchester City teammate.
Palmer connected with it well on the volley but Neto stuck up an arm to keep the ball out.
Ian Maatsen appealed in vain for a penalty after his follow-up volley was blocked.
So too did Bournemouth when Solanke’s header hit Axel Disasi before the game petered out.
