John Harbaugh poked fun at the ongoing situation involving Michigan and his brother Jim after their soccer team became caught up in a sign-stealing scandal.
The playful moment came as Harbaugh lifted the lid on the Baltimore Ravens‘ scouting plans for the upcoming NFL playoffs, having had the week off to prepare for their postseason fixtures.
Baltimore earned the AFC’s No. 1 seed and therefore will not participate in Wild Card Weekend, but their team scouts still had to find their way to Arrowhead Stadium in freezing conditions to watch the Kansas City Chiefs overcome the Miami Dolphins 26-7 in sub-zero temperatures.
“It’s going to be interesting in Kansas City,” Harbaugh said to reporters on Saturday. “It’s going to be interesting. We’ve got some scouts whose flights have been canceled going out there trying to scout the game… which is legal in Pro Football by the way.”
It was a thinly-veiled dig at Michigan and their ongoing sign-stealing scandal, with his brother Jim at the center of the allegations, but there was no ill meaning behind the comment from Ravens coach Harbaugh.
Former staffer Connor Stalions is alleged to have masterminded a scouting operation in which he and others attended games of Michigan’s future opponents and used technology to steal teams’ signals, which is prohibited by NCAA rules.

While Jim Harbaugh has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation, John’s tongue-in-cheek remark suggested he saw the funny side of Michigan’s controversial scandal.
All jokes aside, the Harbaugh brothers are fully supportive of each other and John, in particular, has shown his pride in what his sibling has achieved with the college team.
He was present throughout the Wolverines’ championship run, hugged him on the sidelines and even joined the team’s celebration on stage after their victory.
John’s lighthearted dig at Jim is a testament to their playful relationship and banter in the public eye, and in a world of NFL where some brothers do not get along, it is refreshing to see them take a relaxed stance to each other’s comments.
