Veteran actor Robert De Niro has revealed he recently became a father for the seventh time at the age of 79. De Niro announced the birth of his daughter, Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro, on May 8 during an interview with ET Canada while promoting his latest film, “About My Father”. He confirmed the news on CBS Mornings on May 11 and shared the first photo of Gia wearing a pink onesie.
De Niro welcomed Gia with his partner Tiffany Chen, a martial arts instructor whom he met on the set of “The Intern” in 2015. The “Godfather Part II” star has six other children from his previous relationships, including Drena and Raphael with his first wife, Grace Hightower, and Julian and Aaron with his former girlfriend, Toukie Smith.
Although not much is known about De Niro’s youngest child, his other children have pursued careers outside of acting. Drena, who De Niro adopted after marrying Abbott, has worked as a model, DJ, and actress. Raphael became a real estate agent and counts Jon Bon Jovi, Kelly Ripa, and Renée Zellweger among his celebrity clients. Julian has appeared in films like “In Dubious Battle” and portrayed a young Barack Obama in the TV series “The First Lady”. It’s unclear what Aaron, who chooses to live outside of the spotlight, does for a living. Elliot, De Niro’s youngest son with Hightower, has autism.
De Niro and Hightower’s daughter, Helen, was born via surrogate in 2011, and the couple divorced in 2018. Despite their separation, De Niro praised Hightower as a wonderful mother, and the pair promised to develop their roles as partners in parenting.
