The Albanese government was briefed on the recommendations of the Quirk review of 2032 Games venues, and will now renegotiate its funding commitments.

Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King said she was looking forward to working with the Queensland government on its “proposals”, which still require further assessment to have Commonwealth support.

“Queenslanders can remain confident that the Albanese government remains committed to supporting and investing in Games venue infrastructure,” King said.

“The Games are a once-in-a-generation opportunity and will leave Queensland and Australia with a lasting built, social and cultural legacy.”
