Irvo Otieno was a 28-year-old man who was taken to a hospital after his arrest and died in Custody, causing an uproar on the internet concerning Irvo Otieno.
Otieno’s family has raised concerns about his treatment. His mother told the Richmond Times-Dispatch for a story published Saturday that “something went wrong” while he was in the government’s Custody.
Otieno, whose family is from Kenya, was a deeply loved and well-regarded young man, an aspiring musician who had been a well-known high school athlete in the area, Krudys said.
Irvo Otieno’s family has also not revealed much information as the family is going through a tough time, so it is our responsibility to give them the condolences and privacy they require.
Irvo Otieno, 28, Died At Virginia Mental Hospital
Irvo Otieno was previously mentioned in a news release by Henrico County Police as a potential suspect after officers responded to a report of a possible burglary on March 3.
Officers issued an emergency custody order for Otieno based on their interactions with him and their observations of him. According to a news release published on Friday, Irvo was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Otieno was served with several charges at the hospital after he “became physically abusive toward officers, who arrested him” and took Irvo to a nearby jail run by the Henrico Sheriff’s Office.
Per Baskervill’s statement, Henrico sheriff’s office personnel transported him to Central State Hospital, in south of Richmond, shortly before 4 pm on March 6 to be admitted.
State Police were called to look into his death around 7:30 pm.
Even though Otieno’s body had been taken to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, Baskervill’s statement did not mention the cause of death. Otieno reportedly “became combative during the admission process,” according to state Police investigators.
The investigation is still ongoing, the Virginia State Police’s spokesperson Corinne Geller confirmed on Tuesday.
She claimed that as part of their criminal investigation file, state Police acquired hospital security footage. Its release is not currently anticipated.
Sadly, not much information about Irvo Otieno death was found as the Police have not revealed anything since the case is still sensitive at the time of writing this article.

7 Sheriff Deputies Charged For Death
According to a local prosecutor, seven Virginia sheriff’s office members have been charged with second-degree murder for their involvement with the death of Irvo Otieno at a state mental hospital last week.
According to Baskerville, the seven Henrico County Sheriff’s Office members turned themselves in on Tuesday morning. They were taken to a local jail and held without bond. She didn’t mention their rank in her statement.
The seven defendants—Randy Joseph Boyer, Dwayne Alan Bramble, Jermaine Lavar Branch, Bradley Thomas Disse, Tabitha Renee Levere, Brandon Edwards Rodgers, and Kaiyell Dajour Sanders—do not have defense counsel listed in court documents.
According to the records, hearings regarding the appointment of counsel are scheduled for Wednesday morning in their cases.
Sheriff Alisa Gregory of Henrico County stated that her agency was working closely with state Police while conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
