Logan McDonald got one back for the Swans, who took a big grab deep inside 50.

But just a few minutes later the MCG erupted for Mykelti Lefau’s first goal in the AFL after earning a free right in front of the big sticks.

Now, I’m not a lip-reader, but it seemed Richmond coach Adem Yze let out a “[guess the four-letter word] yes” for the occasion.

Richmond lead by 13 points.

The Tigers have now kicked the last two goals of the game – and from main offenders, Shai Bolton and Tom Lynch.

The first came from turnover off the boot of Bolton, who’s on early.

He’s been creating some havoc around the ball, streamed down the outside to find Rhyan Mansell for Richmond’s opening goal, and now has a goal on his own.

Lynch got his through a set shot, through a strange haze going on at the MCG right now.

Richmond lead by 12.

Joel Amartey has kicked the opening goal for the Swans after earning a free kick for being tackled without the ball right near the square.

The passage ending in the major all started from a turnover in the middle of the ground.

It’s a good battle early.

Scores level.

And it’s Richmond with the first goal of the afternoon at the MCG.

Shai Bolton was given far too much free run on the outside and found Rhyan Mansell, who slotted through the ball for the opening major.

It all started from a stoppage clearance chain – the Tigers have claimed the first three clearances of the match.

Richmond lead by 6.

And we’re away at the MCG.

Let’s see what Richmond can conjure against Sydney…

A perfect day for some afternoon Sunday Easter footy.

Alright, now we head to the MCG for the Richmond Tigers meeting with a red-hot Sydney Swans side.

Will Richmond be able to cause an upset and secure their first victory of the season, or will Sydney will too strong and continue to stay on the winners’ list?

Dogs take the win – and in the end, quite easily.

It was two goals each at quarter-time, and the opening term saw a bit of an arm wrestle, but then the Bulldogs kicked away and claimed 11 on the trot before the Eagles got just one back, late in the final quarter.

The Dogs ended with a 76-point victory 16.10 (106) to 3.12 (30).

And, well, not a great deal of optimism for West Coast in that game. They recorded their lowest score at Marvel Stadium with 30 points (previously 52 points). Their midfielders did get to work and quite often won the battle (+9 in clearances), but couldn’t kick straight in front of the big sticks and lost the ball around the ground.

The young kids are getting plenty of important experience, too. But are doing it tough.

Adam Treloar finished with a game-high 35 disposals, followed by the Eagles’ Elliot Yeo on 29 and Tim Kelly on 28. Marcus Bontempelli finished with three goals, while Cody Weightman, Harvey Gallagher and Tim English all had two.

The Bulldogs next take on Geelong, while West Coast have Sydney.

Jamie Cripps kicked the Eagles’ first goal since the opening quarter nearing the end of the final term, while Marcus Bontempelli answered with his third of the day.

Adam Treloar – who’s been leading the disposal count all afternoon – decided he wanted to add his name to the scoresheet too. It was the Dogs’ 15th goal of the day and took them past 100 points.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have kicked just three goals to go with 12 behinds.

Dogs lead by 70.

We’ve got some selection news for you!

Ruckman Toby Conway will play his second AFL game as Geelong eye a five-day break after their annual Easter Monday clash with Hawthorn.

The Cats will make several changes for Tom Hawkins’ 350th game as they factor in the short turnaround to Saturday night’s Gather Round match against the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval.

Coach Chris Scott confirmed that Conway would come in for his first game this season and replace Rhys Stanley, who watched Sunday morning training.

Zach Tuohy also was an onlooker, while captain Patrick Dangerfield is out with a hamstring injury.

Mitch Duncan was a late withdrawal from last weekend’s win over Adelaide because his wife, Demi, gave birth to their fourth child, while Tanner Bruhn (foot) and Tom Atkins (adductor) also are strong chances to return.

Scott said there was “no issue” with Stanley, instead pointing to the need for players to be managed through the season.

“Toby playing for Rhys is one I’m happy to flag. There will be very few players who will play for us every week this year,” Scott said.

“But it’s possible to read too much into these things in other areas because we did bring out quite a few players from our VFL game yesterday.

“We’ve got a short break into Gather Round, which doesn’t scare us.”

The “Kennett Curse” once made Geelong’s Easter Monday clashes with Hawthorn among the biggest games of the season.

The Hawks won as recently as two years ago, but Geelong belted them by 82 points on the long weekend last year and will start warm favourites this time.

The Cats have started the season with two wins, while Hawthorn are 0-2 after blowing too many chances against Essendon and having their tactics backfire badly last weekend against Melbourne.

Ahead of a big day for the club, given Hawkins’ milestone, Scott is wary of referring to history as opposed to building on form.

“There’s a fine line to be walked when it comes to drawing on the distant past – especially when in the next sentence you’re likely to preach living in the moment,” he said.

“So that fine line means balancing respect for the past and respect we have for the opposition and the occasion – and the fact it is a privilege.

“Not everyone gets to play on Easter Monday. Again, the priority for us being where we are right at the minute and getting that part right – that’s the way we can honour the past the best, I think.”

Footy fans are engrossed in speculation as to why there are members of the Eagles camp holding up a Danish flag, and what it could mean.

The Western Bulldogs’ social media team cheekily commented “hot cross bun”, while other responses have included “kick it, Denmark it” and “implement a relaxed monarchy”.

You’d hope it’ll help them out somehow, as the Dogs are now up by 60 points midway through the final quarter. West Coast haven’t kicked a major since the opening term.
