Chris Evans and his dog Dodger have captured the hearts of fans everywhere. The actor, famous for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, adopted Dodger in November 2015 while filming a movie in Savannah, Georgia. He met the pup while visiting a shelter and was struck by how much he didn’t seem to belong there. Dodger reminded Evans of Artful Dodger from the 1988 movie “Oliver & Company,” and so the name stuck.
Since then, Dodger has become a social media star in his own right. Evans frequently shares photos of him on Instagram, to the delight of fans. Earlier this year, the actor and his furry friend teamed up with dog nutrition brand Jinx to launch the Dog Dream Box. The box includes a bag of Jinx kibble, slow-smoked chicken-tender treats, a tennis ball, and a rugged rope toy inspired by the toy Dodger came home with when Evans rescued him.
Evans, who is an ambassador for Jinx, says that he and Dodger were happy to collaborate on the project. Dodger was especially fond of the Jinx Tenders treats. The actor revealed that while fans might think that Dodger loves the camera, he actually doesn’t. When Evans takes out his phone to take pictures of him, Dodger often makes a run for it after just one shot.
Despite his aversion to the camera, Dodger loves people and other dogs. He often accompanies Evans to work and is a favorite among cast and crew members. In fact, he even has a bit of a jealous streak when it comes to his owner. “He gets a little jealous if I start giving another dog a little bit of love. He butts right in there,” Evans said.
The actor, who is currently starring in Apple TV+’s “Ghosted” with Ana de Armas, says that spending time with Dodger has taught him to appreciate the little things in life. “A lot of times, if I’m having a particularly heavy day, it’s nice just to look at Dodger and remember how simply, happily, peacefully, and joyfully he moves through the world,” he said.
