A DAD told a court today how he had throttled Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner after he exposed himself to children under a park slide.

The parent grabbed the monster after witnessing him expose himself to a youngster of just 11, at a playground in Portugal then held onto him until cops arrived, in 2017.

Braunschweig Regional Court heard the dad stepped in after a girl complained Brueckner had exposed himself to a group of children under a park slide during a family festival in Messines.

The witness said:  “A girl came to me and said there is a man under the slide and he has shown me his intimate areas.

“She told me he got his private parts out and there were children there.”

The mechanic added: “I asked him a few times what he was doing and what it was all about and he didn’t respond.

“I then grabbed hold of him and we called the police.

“He sat there and I held him so he couldn’t get away but we didn’t exchange any words.

“I spoke to him in Portuguese and then in English but he didn’t answer.”

Brueckner cruelly laughed in court just minutes after one of his young sex crime victims was reduced to tears as she relived the moment he exposed himself.

Meanwhile, Brueckner’s defence team have applied for McCann private investigator Dave Edgar and Met Police officers to give evidence in court in support of the paedophile.

The motions are the latest among a string of spurious requests by the team, which has sought to create delays and discredit key McCann witnesses.

Since the trial started in February they have only succeeded with one motion, despite applications running into double figured.

Madeleine, three, disappeared from an apartment in Praia da Luz on Portugal’s Algarve coast while on holiday with parents Kate and Gerry, now both 55, of Rothley, Leics.

German investigators believe Brueckner abducted and murdered her – although no charges have been filed against him.

Prosecutors in Germany confirmed Ms Fehlinger had been named in relation to sex abuse of children, in court.

Brueckner is on trial for a string of rapes and indecent exposure charges, uncovered during the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance.

KEY WITNESS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER

KEY witness Helge Busching has been diagnosed with cancer, the court heard — delivering a potential blow to the prospects of the Madeleine McCann case.

The 53-year-old reported Christian Brueckner to police after asking him about the missing youngster and being told: “She didn’t scream.”

But the court heard the witness, who gave evidence last week, was refusing treatment and might not have long left to live — raising the prospect the Madeleine case might not arrive in court in time.

Another key witness in the Madeleine investigation, Manfred Seyferth, has also been diagnosed with the disease.

Former Brueckner pal Michael Tatschl, 50, told Braunschweig Regional Court about Busching: “He says he does not have long according to his diagnosis.”

The prosecutors’ office said recorded testimonies could ultimately be read out if required.

Mr Busching has previously revealed British detectives flew to meet him and spent three days interviewing him about Madeleine’s disappearance.

He also told the court earlier this week that it was the “biggest failure” of his life not to report Brueckner sooner.

He found rape videos in Brueckner’s home in 2005 but did not reveal the horrors they showed.

Three-year-old Madeleine vanished on May 3, 2007, in Praia da Luz, Portugal.

Her parents had left her and her little brother and sister sleeping in their holiday apartment while they dined at a nearby tapas bar.
