Just as she has been all season and for the majority of her collegiate career, Caitlin Clark was extraordinary on Saturday. The top scorer and playmaker in women’s college basketball did just that against Colorado in the Sweet 16: score points and hand out assists.
Clark poured in 29 points on over 59% shooting from the field and set up teammates with 15 dimes. She also chipped in with six rebounds, one steal and one block.
Colorado was never really in the game. The Hawkeyes took an eight-point lead into the second quarter and a 13-point lead into halftime.
Iowa vs LSU rematch confirmed in Elite Eight
With the Buffaloes out of the way, all eyes will be on Iowa’s next game: an Elite Eight matchup against LSU and Angel Reese. It will be a rematch of last year’s NCAA Championship, in which the Tigers beat Clark’s Hawkeyes by 17 points.
Iowa was favored in that game, and they will more than likely be favored again in this one, as they are the top seed in the region. Reese was named MVP in last year’s title game, although Clark put up 30 points and eight assists.
Iowa and LSU will square off on Monday, April 1. A tip-off time has not yet been announced, although everyone is expecting a 7pm ET start.
