Jason Kelce‘s reported retirement from the NFL has unearthed some interesting anecdotes about his time and one friend recalled a whisky-fuelled adventure with him on his way to the top level of football.
This particular story dates back to his time at varsity, where he had a reputation as a party animal, despite bidding to be a professional athlete too as his former-colleague colleagues and friends described how he used to disguise whiskey in a Gatorade bottle for a discreet drink.

“I think it was St. Patrick’s Day,” Tom DeTemple said to The Athletic. “We’re getting ready for spring practice, and he goes and gets a Gatorade bottle and fills it up with Jameson.
“He puts a thing of tape around it and gives it to one of the water girls and says: ‘Do not give this to anybody but me.'”
His partying never stopped his career
Many athletes enjoy the partying life too much and it either disrupts their focus on their professional career or, in some cases such as the soccer player George Best, kills them.
But Kelce always managed to keep his eyes on the prize alongside his brother, allowing to have his cake and also eat it as he made the NFL cut in 2011.
The fact that he made it didn’t surprise Alex Hoffman, who said, “All he cared about was playing football and having a good time.”
Kelce‘s career peaked when he became a Super Bowl champion in 2018 as the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33, and he almost came close to repeating the feat against his brother, Travis, in 2023 as the Eagles lost 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Now he’s set to bow out from the sport after 13 seasons following a brutal loss by the Philadelphia Eagles at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that saw them exit the postseason with a whimper following awful form in the second half of the season so fond memories are pouring in.
