“Amanda, I truly believed I could step away, especially for Jessica’s sake. But the heart wants what it wants,” Chris said, her eyes meeting Jack’s. “I can’t just turn off my feelings. I genuinely believe Jack and I share something special. That’s why I couldn’t stay away.”

“I think we should think about getting a divorce, Amanda. Look, I really respect you for the things you’ve done for me and Dylan, but we both know things are no longer the same between us. Please. I can’t be with you,” he suggested, saying he’d still help the family but wanted his own space.

“You’re so easily swayed, Jack. You’re giving up on our marriage for some young girl you barely know?” Amanda screamed.

Chris stepped forward, her voice filled with regret. “I genuinely didn’t expect things to turn out this way, Amanda. However, the money has already been used for Jessica’s treatments and upcoming rehabilitation. I promise I’ll repay every cent once I get back on my feet.”

Feeling betrayed and angry, Amanda left. In the next few days, she thought a lot about getting back at Chris. She even got poison, planning her next steps.

That’s when Amanda quickly went to the car, found Chris’s gym bag, and put poison in Chris’s water bottle, hoping to solve her problems.

But later, she felt really troubled by what she did. She had gone far, crossed a line. And now, she didn’t feel great about it. Then, her phone rang. It was Jack, sounding really scared. “Amanda! Hurry to Central Hospital. It’s Dylan,” he said urgently.

“What’s wrong?” Amanda’s voice shook.

“We were in the car, Dylan was thirsty, and I gave him Chris’s water from the gym bag. He started feeling weird, then fainted!”

Amanda felt her world falling apart, realizing the horrible mistake. She broke down into tears, feeling awful about what she’d done.

She got to the hospital, but it was too late. Her little boy, Dylan, was gone. In her attempt to get back at Chris and Jack, Amanda ended up losing her whole family forever.
