Moncada hit the first major league home run of his career on July 26, 2017, off Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta. In 149 games played in 2018, Moncada finished with a batting average of.235, 32 doubles, 17 home runs, 61 RBIs, and an MLB-high 217 strikeouts. With a.963 fielding percentage, he was the worst second baseman in the major leagues.

Similarly, during the 2019 season, Moncada set career highs in a number of batting categories, including hits (161), doubles (34), home runs (25), RBIs (79), and batting average (.315), with his batting average ranking third in the American League. In 2020, he batted.225 with six home runs, and the following year, he hit 14 home runs.

Moncada began the 2022 season on the disabled list due to an oblique strain. Moncada was activated from the IL on May 9 and made his season debut against the Cleveland Guardians that day, going 1-for-4.
