A teenager has suffered injuries to multiple parts of his body when he was bitten by a shark at a popular beach along the NSW coast.
The attack happened around 6am today in Port Macquarie.
The 13-year-old was bitten at Town Beach and has been taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital with injuries to his foot, finger and upper leg.
He’s believed to be in a stable condition.
Head lifeguard James Turnham said the attack happened in the centre of the beach.
“He wasn’t that far out. The waves are only breaking about 30-40 metres out this morning,” Mr Turnham told Port Macquarie news.
“It has made a mess of his ankle and there was a small bite to his finger. It wasn’t life threatening. He was in a bit of shock.”
