West Yorkshire Police has released a brief statement following an incident in Huddersfield last night.

A large number of emergency services personnel were seen in Hanson Lane at Lockwood yesterday evening, including police cars and ambulances. The officers were at the scene for several hours after being called out just after 6pm.

Police officers and paramedics attended the scene. In a brief statement today, West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a man had been found, detained and taken to a ‘place of safety’.

The statement said: “Police were called to Hanson Lane, Huddersfield, at 6.12pm yesterday (Sunday, April 21) to a report of a concern for safety for a man.

“Officers engaged with the man, and he was detained at around 9pm and taken to a place of safety.”

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called to assist police at 7.35pm last night. We sent two crews from Huddersfield who assisted with gaining access. We had left the scene at 9.07pm.”
