One is a princess, while the other is widely considered a princess of pop. But it seems the Queen’s granddaughter Eugenie and singer Ellie Goulding have more in common than a title.
Ellie, 33, revealed yesterday she is eight months pregnant with her first child and is due to give birth mere weeks after new mother Princess Eugenie welcomed her first son, August.
It’s far from the only parallel between the pair, who have become close friends in recent years, with Eugenie even believed to have introduced Ellie to her now-husband Caspar Jopling.

New mothers together
Yesterday, singer Ellie revealed she is eight months pregnant with her first child and showcased her bump for the first time in stunning at-home shots taken for Vogue.
The singer said she fell pregnant while on a trip celebrating their one-year anniversary in Italy last August.
Ellie’s last major appearance was at the V&A Museum that month and she has spent the duration of lockdown at home in Gloucestershire.
She said: ‘We did the one show. I was pregnant and had no idea. That was [around] the time when Caspar and I went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that’s basically when we found out.

Meanwhile popstar Ellie revealed she is currently eight months pregnant with her first child earlier this week
‘It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality.
‘Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human. I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.’
The announcement comes just weeks after Princess Eugenie welcomed her first child, a son, called August Philip Hawke.
The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson welcomed her first child, who is 11th in line to the throne, with Jack on February 9 at London’s Portland Hospital. The couple were pictured leaving the hospital three days later on February 12.
The new mother revealed the name at the weekend and shared her first family picture with her son – the Queen’s ninth great grandchild – which is thought to have been taken in the grounds of Frogmore Cottage, where the couple are currently living.
Posting a series of photographs on Instagram, the Queen’s granddaughter wrote: ‘Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.’

Tackling modern slavery has long been an important cause for the Queen’s granddaughter, who first became passionate about it after visiting Women’s Interlink during a 2013 trip to India with her mother, Sarah, Duchess of York.
Following her visit to the charity – which helps vulnerable women find employment opportunities – Eugenie became involved with several different organisations , such as the Salvation Army, before starting her own initiative.
Eugenie and Julia set up The Anti-Slavery Collective in 2017 – an ‘independent collective whose mission is to bring change-makers together to raise awareness for modern slavery as a global epidemic’.
The royal and her husband Jack have also been doing their bit for NHS frontline staff working on the front line amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The royal couple were thanked by staff from the Imperial College Trust on Twitter last week after arriving at a hospital in the capital with a car full of healthy meals.
Meanwhile Ellie, who has been a long-standing supporter of homeless charities, has been snapped volunteering during the pandemic.
Last year the singer, 33, along with her management company TaP Music helped homeless charity Crisis to get 400 phones for homeless people.

When Ellie married the love of her life Caspar in a star-studded and royal ceremony at the York Minster Cathedral in August 2019, she pulled out out all the stops for her wedding gown.
The popstar chose an embroidered and handmade Chloé dress which took more than 640 hours to make.
The dress was also hand embroidered with White Roses of York while the veil and collar were embroidered with the bride and groom’s initials, E & C.
Some believed the design could have been inspired by the gown wore by Ellie’s close friend Princess Eugenie months before.
The Queen’s granddaughter stunned in the V-neck dress made from a jacquard of silk, cotton and viscose blend with a low back, designed to display the scars from her childhood operation for scoliosis designed by London-based Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, who first met at the University of Antwerp.
The fabric of the dress featured symbols that were meaningful to the bride and groom, including thistles, to reflect their love for the Queen’s beloved Balmoral estate in the Scottish highlands.
A design of shamrocks also featured a nod to the bride’s Irish heritage, with Eugenie’s maternal grandmother hailing from Ireland, where Fergie spent time while recovering from the aftermath of her divorce from Prince Andrew.
The BFFs even had similar wedding dresses, after Princess Eugenie opted for a stunning white gown embroidered with personal details for her big day in October 2018

Jack, once nicknamed ‘barman Jack’ in his Chelsea social circle, has worked his way up through some of the capital’s trendiest bars and nightspots.
He was educated at £10,000-a-term Stowe school in Buckinghamshire, whose former pupils include businessmen Richard Branson and John Sainsbury.
Rather than follow many of his peers into finance degrees and the City, Jack got the backing of his parents to go straight to work after school, heading for the hospitality industry.

But he has moved to put any idea of his being a party animal behind him in recent years, setting up a respectable wine merchants business, and now working with tequila brand Casamigos as European brand manager.
