Richard Keys has claimed that Mohamed Salah will ‘probably’ leave Liverpool at the end of the current season.

The Egyptian winger was linked with a stunning £120million move to Saudi Arabia throughout the summer transfer window, however a deal failed to materialise.

Now, with under two years remaining on his Liverpool contract, Keys has suggested that the Egyptian star could soon be on his way out of Anfield.

During analysis of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Luton, Keys told BeIn Sports: ‘Are we looking at him in his last year at Liverpool? I think the answer probably is yes.

‘He’s never had a sniff of the very big honours despite being very impactful in the English game. I’m talking Ballon d’Ors! When you think about his contribution, he has been sensational.

‘And I’m not sure we ever give him the credit. We talk in glowing terms about him but have we given him the credit that perhaps he should have had? Because he’s been right up there with the very best at Liverpool’.

During the 2022-23 campaign, Salah scored 30 goals and picked up 16 assists from 51 matches. For his efforts, the winger came 11th in the recent Ballon d’Or voting.

In summer, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad were willing to pay over £120million to land Salah as they attempted to mount a last-minute bid for the Premier League star.

The Reds were aware any Salah exit could derail their season and Klopp’s project at Anfield, as the club attempted to bounce-back after a difficult campaign in 2022-23.

The Saudi bid coming so late in the window meant Liverpool were unlikely to find a replacement for Salah – with less than 24 hours until the deadline shut.

Salah would be Saudi’s biggest coup since bringing Brazilian star Neymar to the nation from PSG in August.

Salah would follow in the footsteps of Jordan Henderson, who gave up the club captaincy to join Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, while Fabinho and Roberto Firmino also secured exits from Anfield.

The winger played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool rescued a draw against Luton thanks to Luis Diaz’s injury time equaliser
