Sarah Wilson Death: Was She Shot By Police?
According to Virginia authorities, a 19-year-old woman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face while wearing handcuffs.
Leo Kosinski, a spokesman for the Chesapeake Police Department, informed WAVY in August 2018 that on July 25, 2018, while Sarah Wilson was handcuffed during a traffic stop in Chesapeake, Virginia, she pulled a gun out of her boyfriend’s car, “contoured” her body, and shot herself.
Wilson committed suicide and passed away from an “intra-oral gunshot wound,” the Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner reported to WAVY on Friday following an official inquiry into the incident.
Kosinski claimed that one of the officers engaged in the traffic stop was carrying a body camera at the time of Wilson’s passing, but it had been disabled.
Before the traffic stop, a patrol officer and a vice narcotics officer with the Chesapeake Police had been watching Wilson and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Holden Medlin.
Officers attempted to tase Medlin when he attempted to leave after they pulled them over. In the meantime, they left handcuffed Wilson at the side of her boyfriend’s car.
According to authorities, Wilson allegedly shot herself at that point using a gun she had taken from her boyfriend’s car.

According to a report at the time by ABC 13, the cop who was sporting a body camera claimed that the camera malfunctioned “during the battle” with Medlin.
After swallowing a golf ball-sized bag containing an unidentified chemical, Medlin was detained in connection with the stop, according to the police.
In Medlin’s car, police discovered oxycodone, a syringe, drug paraphernalia, a rifle, and ammo.
He was accused of running from a law enforcement officer, possessing a firearm while a felon, and possessing oxycodone, suboxone, paraphernalia, and a firearm combined with a schedule I or II substance.
On July 25, 2018, Holden Medlin, 28, and Sarah Wilson were pulled over by the Chesapeake Police Department while traveling close to the intersection of Wilson Road and Berkley Avenue Extension.
The traffic stop scene claimed the life of Sarah Wilson. In her postmortem report, the medical examiner noted that Sarah Wilson shot herself in the mouth while wearing handcuffs with a Taurus Judge handgun.
