Former world heavyweight champion boxer Andy Ruiz‘s ex-girlfriend, Julia Lemus, has obtained a permanent restraining order against him following allegations of sexual assault. The order, granted earlier this month, comes after Lemus had been seeking protection since last April.
According to TMZ, Lemus alleges that Ruiz subjected her to sexual assault, abuse, and intimidation throughout their relationship. Additionally, Ruiz‘s ex-wife claims he pointed an AK-47 at her face last year when she expressed discomfort with a recent gun purchase he made.

Lemus and Ruiz began dating in 2016. The court order reveals instances where Ruiz reportedly physically handled Lemus by grabbing and forcefully moving her.
Lemus further claimed that Ruiz would “jokingly” punch her arms and legs, leaving bruises. She also alleges that Ruiz sexually assaulted her multiple times last year by forcing himself onto her.
Initially granted a temporary restraining order after these allegations surfaced, Lemus and Ruiz engaged in a court battle, testifying before a judge along with witnesses.
The judge, Sharon L. Kalemkiarian, ruled in favor of Lemus on April 8, issuing a three-year restraining order that can be renewed before its expiration in April 2027.
Judge Kalemkiarian noted in court filings that evidence presented showed Lemus “is in fear” due to Ruiz’s “aggressive, demeaning, and controlling behavior.”
The judge affirmed that Ruiz assaulted Lemus, disturbed her peace, and exerted coercive control over their entire relationship.
The terms of the restraining order mandate that Ruiz stay at least 100 yards away from Lemus, her residence, workplace, and vehicle.
Additionally, Ruiz must refrain from possessing firearms and is required to complete a 12-week anger management course.
Despite these developments, Ruiz has not publicly responded to the report. His most recent social media post, in March, featured a video with his new partner, Mayeli Alonso, announcing her pregnancy.
In addition to the restraining order, Judge Kalemkiarian granted Lemus sole custody of the couple’s two children, allowing Ruiz only supervised visitation.
Ruiz‘s last professional fight was in September 2022, where he secured a victory over Luis Ortiz.
