One of the top cops involved in the search for missing Doncaster woman Pam Johnson has issued an update on today’s woodland operation.

South Yorkshire Police say their officers have been working alongside Mountain Rescue and Lowland Rescue to search Sandall Beat Wood, near Doncaster. They have been searching all day today (Thurs), and are continuing their search for Pam.

Pam was last seen at a property on Winchester Avenue, on Thursday, March 14, at around 7pm.

In an update given tonight (Thurs), Superintendent (Supt) Eleanor Welsh said police had been joined by a number of partner agencies in the search for Pam. “Pam’s family are understandably really concerned about her and we’re here to support them in getting answers into what’s happened to her,” she said.

Supt Welsh said the police had been working “tirelessly” for a week as they attempt to “identify lines of enquiry into where she may have gone.” She said officers understand Pam left Winchester Avenue and walked towards Thorn Road.

“From that point we don’t know where she went,” Supt Welsh admitted. She then directly appealed to the local public to “have a think” about what they were doing last week, where they were and “whether you saw anything that could assist our enquiry.”

Supt Welsh went on to thank the public for their help so far.

A statement uploaded to South Yorkshire Police’s Facebook page read: “Our officers have been out alongside colleagues from Mountain Rescue and Lowland Rescue to search Sandall Beat Wood all day today (Thursday 21 March).

“It is now seven days since 63-year-old Pam, who also goes by the name Shirley, was last seen at a property on Winchester Avenue on Thursday 14 March at around 7pm.

“Since this time, specialist officers from across our force have been working tirelessly to trace Pam’s movements and get answers for her family.”
