David Benavidez’s father is disappointed by Canelo’s refusal

David Benavidez‘s father was clear in assuring that the Mexican is “afraid of being retired”, which is why he does not want the fight to take place.

“There are going to be people who are going to give Canelo 150 million dollars and even then he is not going to accept the fight. I think he doesn’t want to face David Benavidez because he knows he’s going to retire him, because he’s going to hurt him…. Canelo is on the decline, he’s already given everything he had to give, but he’s finished in training,” said Benavidez‘s father in an interview with La Casaca Boxing Club.

Despite this, Jose Benavidez hopes that his 27-year-old son will continue on his way to fight other boxers, while the great Mexican and world champion does the same.

Canelo Alvarez reveals he did not receive offer from David Benavidez

Canelo Alvarez denies that he has received an offer from David Benavidez. It was during a chat he had with Fight Hub TV, that, if it were to happen, Canelo revealed that he would only fight Benavidez in exchange for a large amount of money.

“I don’t need to fight anyone. I don’t need to prove anything to anybody, nothing. I remember when this happened with other people, and now it’s happening with David Benavidez? But if some promoter I work with comes to me and says, ‘I offer you 150 or 200 million dollars,’ that would be the only reason I would fight him,” he said.

And taking advantage of this, Canelo was also clear in stating that he never received an offer from Benavidez, but, in case it was given, it would only be for an incredible sum.

“Maybe, who knows, but he didn’t bring anything to the table for me. But no, never, never, never, never an offer was received. Not that I know of, and I know everything,” said Alvarez Barragan.
