LeBron James is one of the biggest sporting stars in the United States of America and every action that he takes comes under immense attention and scrutiny.
This time, the attention is negative. LeBron was at his son Bronny’s most recent USC basketball game and whilst the national anthem was played ahead of the match, LeBron sat in his courtside seat and appeared to ignore it.

With the US being one of the most outwardly patriotic countries in the world, many people have taken genuine offence at this act.
“Zero respect for the country that gave him the opportunity to be a basketball star,” one person began by saying.
They continued: “Zero respect for the country that allowed him to become a billionaire. Zero respect for the men and women who defend our country so he can live his life. Shameful.” said one person.
“He should move to Eastern Europe and try to make his 1 billion dollars there. Or China! He could disrespect America all he wants there. But he won’t because he’s a coward. Shame on him.” commented another person.
In defence of LeBron
The reporter who actually took the video chose to defend LeBron by explaining that the anthem is the most opportune moment for LeBron to come and take his seat, as has been the case for a long time.
“As the reporter who took this video, this is gross and completely mischaracterizes the situation. LeBron has done this for YEARS in Bronny’s time at Sierra Canyon. It’s objectively the best time to walk in so he doesn’t cause a massive stir. Stop it,” Luca Evans said.
