Manchester United have handed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri 12-month contract extensions, and remain in talks with Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof over their futures at Old Trafford, manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed.

Mail Sport revealed on Wednesday that the club have triggered the one-year option on Wan-Bissaka’s deal, having done the same for Lindelof and Mejbri.

However, Martial’s Old Trafford career looks to be coming to an end after the club decided not to extend his £250,000-a-week contract, meaning he is able begin talks with foreign clubs this week and leave as a free agent in the summer.

Meanwhile, United are open to Varane staying on new terms but will not extend the Frenchman’s current £340,000-a-week deal. Varane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich and several Saudi clubs this month.

‘We are talking with Rapha Varane, with Anthony Martial, and we triggered the options on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Vicot Lindelof and Hannibal,’ Ten Hag said on Thursday.

Pressed specifically on Varane and Martial, he added: ‘I think that is an internal discussion between the club and the player.’

The United boss was also asked about Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund on loan as talks continue over the German club paying a £3million loan fee to sign the United outcast until the end of the season.

‘I can’t say anything about that,’ said Ten Hag. ‘We have to wait and see how things are going. When we have news, we will tell you.’

Meanwhile, United don’t expect any more players back for Monday’s FA Cup third round tie at Wigan, even though Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez returned to full training on Wednesday.

‘No. I think we will have some more or less the same squad as against Nottingham Forest,’ said Ten Hag.
