Las Vegas came to the boil on Friday afternoon as Errol Spence Jr and Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford went face-to-face for the final time ahead of Saturday night’s super fight in Sin City.

The two world champions, both unbeaten, meet in a mouthwatering clash to crown a new welterweight king.

A few hours before Friday’s ceremonial weigh-in, in front of a raucous crowd at T-Mobile Arena, Spence hit the scales on the 147lb limit, while WBO titlist Crawford came in 3oz lighter.

The two fighters shared words and a handshake during the final face-off, with Spence – the WBA, IBF and WBC champion – revealing what was said.

‘He should have thanked me for making this s*** happen,’ Spence said. ‘It’s huge and now it’s time for me to put on a big show.’

The thousands of supporters, who queued in temperatures reaching 111 degrees to secure a seat inside the arena, were split between both fighters.

They created a febrile atmosphere as Spence and Crawford took to the stage. ‘Bud’ looked supremely relaxed and confident as he rapped the words to ‘Mr. Carter’ by Lil Wayne.

The 35-year-old then declared: ‘We’re about to make history, the better man is going to win tomorrow.’

‘This is what us high-class fighters deserve,’ Crawford added when asked about the crowd. ‘We put our lives on the line.’

Between them, across a combined 67 professional fights, Spence (28-0) and Crawford (39-0) have tasted only victory.

Boxing royalty descended on Las Vegas on Friday ahead of the most anticipated fight in years.

Former world heavyweight champions Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Roy Jones Jr and Riddick Bowe were among the crowd.
