Willie Nelson received the highly-anticipated COVID-19 vaccine at a drive-through clinic this week, according to a post he shared on his Facebook page.
‘Get your shot! Take care of yourself and others,’ the 87-year-old country star urged as he became one of the nearly 10.6 million people in America to get at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, according to the NY Times.
In the photos, he reposted from the Texas-based Family Hospital Systems, the singer could be seen shooting a thumbs-up at the camera and wearing a blue surgical mask.

‘Getting your COVID vaccine is Willie cool,’ the Austin-area emergency room captioned three images of the ten-time Grammy winner in Cedar Park.
Nelson falls in the CDC‘s second group of people eligible for the vaccine, which includes people age 75 years and older, who are at ‘high risk of hospitalization, illness, and death from COVID-19.’
His wife of 30 years Annie D’Angelo, who is 64, also opened up to told Rolling Stone about the experience and said they felt very ‘lucky.’
‘We made sure that [he] wasnât cutting anybody â in fact, the healthcare workers were kind of angry that we had waited so long, because he is 87 years old and has COPD,’ she told the magazine this week.

‘He was bragging yesterday after he got it that he didnât even have a sore arm,’ she noted. ‘Now, today, of course his arm is sore. Weâre both just a little tired. I donât know if we wouldnât be tired anyway, but weâre gonna do what they said and let the vaccine do its job.’
Nelson’s 90-year-old musician sister, Bobbie, also received the Moderna vaccine.
To best protect her husband, Annie explained she has been extremely cautious and doesn’t allow anything in her home, unless it’s been sterilized first.

Despite remaining on a strict lockdown, she said that Willie has been working hard on writing songs and recording in his at-home studio with his sons Lukas and Micah.
‘We work out three times a week to keep sane, and he sings, and thatâs really helpful,’ she revealed. ‘Sometimes he just puts on his [SiriusXM] channel Willieâs Roadhouse and sings at the top of his lungs to his music. Thatâs good exercise.’
Willie’s last performance before the pandemic was ‘at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for an audience of more than 80,000 people’ on March 4, according to the outlet.
His wife also revealed Willie hopes to get back on the road and tour again in the fall if ‘we can get some kind of herd immunity.’
