After leading Bayern Munich to numerous domestic and European titles, Barcelona fans are now eager to see how Hansi Flick’s tactical prowess could transform Camp Nou.

Another key point of interest for fans is the potential signings Flick might make to bolster the squad.

Given Barca’s current financial issues, supporters are curious to see how the German navigates the transfer market and identifies players who fit his system.

Here are six faces that Flick could bring to Spain.

Since his arrival at Bayern Munich in 2015, Joshua Kimmich has flourished, garnering considerable success and amassing an enviable array of trophies, some of which were secured under the management of Hansi Flick.

Now, with just one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, a summer transfer seems increasingly likely for the mercurial midfielder. A move to Barcelona emerges as a compelling option, presenting Kimmich with the chance to reunite with Flick and potentially enhance his trophy cabinet even further.

However, the 29-year-old, notably without an agent, may find the allure of a move to the Premier League tempting. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are among the potential suitors.

Barcelona’s financial constraints may limit their ability to make major signings, leading them to possibly focus on the market of experienced players becoming free agents in the summer.

Eric Choupo-Moting’s contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire this month, fuelling speculation about a potential move to La Blaugrana.

When Robert Lewandowski left for Barca in 2022, Bayern promoted Choupo-Moting as his replacement. Though initially a substitute, Choupo-Moting enjoyed a strong scoring streak from October to late January, totalling 17 goals in 30 matches, including one at Camp Nou. However, his prominence waned with a knee injury and the arrival of Harry Kane in 2023.

Joshua ZirkzeeJoshua Zirkzee

Vincent Kompany’s arrival might indeed pique Joshua Zirkzee’s interest in returning to Bayern Munich. However, reuniting with Hansi Flick at Barcelona could be equally enticing for the Netherlands international.

Zirkzee made his first senior Bundesliga appearance in 2019, coming on as a substitute in the 90th minute in a match against Freiburg tied at 1–1. Almost immediately after entering the game, he scored the winner. Ultimately, he capped off his debut season with a continental treble, notably achieved under Flick’s guidance.

He does, however, currently play as a forward for Bologna and has an estimated market value of £34m (€40m). If Barca were to consider this signing, they may first need to sell a player like Ferran Torres.

Jeremie FrimpongJeremie Frimpong

Jeremie Frimpong had a sublime season with Bayer Leverkusen, playing a pivotal role in their journey to secure their first Bundesliga title. The club’s emphatic victory over Werder Bremen in mid-April sealed their championship triumph, ending Bayern Munich’s 11-year dominance of the league.

Now, 23-year-old Frimpong could be looking to leave Germany on a high, with Spain being a potential new destination. Real Madrid have previously expressed interest in Frimpong and are reportedly willing to offer players in a deal, but Barca have held direct talks with his agent.

Frimpong is valued at £42m (€50m), a price that may be too steep for Barca unless they can offload some players. Raphinha, who is reportedly of interest to clubs in Saudi Arabia, could be one such player to make way.

Bernardo SilvaBernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva has long expressed his wish to play for Barcelona at some point in his career. Former La Blaugrana boss Xavi had always shown interest in acquiring the playmaker, but it remains unclear whether Hansi Flick shares the same desire.

If Silva were to join, he would reunite with Ilkay Gundogan at Camp Nou, and the two would likely thrive under Flick, who shares similar values to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

However, Barca’s financial situation will likely necessitate the sale of some first-team assets before they can sign a player of Silva’s calibre this summer, especially given his hefty release clause.

Anthony MartialAnthony Martial

Anthony Martial is poised to leave Manchester United as a free transfer this summer and it would be silly for Barcelona to not try and get the Frenchman on board.

Amidst revelations of Vitor Roque’s discontent, Barca must prioritise acquiring one or even two additional forwards, with Martial emerging as a potential asset. His versatility in different attacking positions and knack for creating scoring opportunities could address the immediate need for reinforcement in La Blaugrana’s front line.

The 28-year-old spent nine years with the Red Devils, scoring more than 60 goals in over 200 appearances.
