‘Blimey’: Suri Cruise,18, Steps Out in Tube Top Skimpy Shorts after Name Change, Sparking Talks

The 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood ex-couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes was spotted in public dressed in a tube top and skimpy shorts. Social media users who saw the teen had a lot to say about how she looked with some marveling at how much she has grown and others pointing out her resemblance to Tom. Suri Cruise’s latest appearance also comes after a big change she made after turning 18.

On May 25, paparazzi snapped pictures of Suri Cruise taking a stroll in New York with a friend of hers. The 18-year-old’s ensemble took into account the sweltering East Coast heat: She rocked a white tube top, paired it with skimpy dark-colored shorts, and kept her hair off her face with a cream-colored bandana.

Upon seeing pictures of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter that were shared online, many people took to social media to assert their opinions on her appearance. Some even made comments about her age.

One Facebooker who was taken aback by how much Suri has grown exclaimed, “18 already, blimey, tempus fugit.” “Hopeful sign: Suri Cruise looks like a normal 18 year old,” someone else wrote, while another user simply said, “Oh dear.”

Others diverted their attention to highlighting the striking likeness Suri shares with her famous father, Tom. “She is her [dad’s] twin,” asserted an onlooker. Echoing the sentiment, another reiterated, “Looks so much like her Dad.”

Jumping on the father-daughter lookalike bandwagon, someone else stated, “She’s starting to look a lot like Tom now that she’s grown up.” However, another Facebooker feels as though Suri resembles both Tom and Katie, “I think she looks like both her parents. And that’s nice 🙂.”

A fan who was enchanted by Suri’s beauty praised, “Suri Cruise recently, beautiful lady.” Amid the comments about Suri’s appearance and resemblance to Tom, a social media user who felt strongly about paparazzi taking pictures of the teen noted, “A youth who wants no part and is ditching her [dad’s] name also doesn’t want papers snapshotting with that name…”

Even though Suri might not have the best relationship with her father, given that the two have been estranged for quite some time, she still shares things in common with him. Not only has she inherited Tom Cruise‘s looks, but she has also received his creative genes.

On her recent Big Apple excursion, Suri was spotted carrying a guitar that was enclosed in a beige instrument bag. Pictures of the bag showed that the instrument is from the acoustic guitar premiere brand Taylor.

Apart from her potential pursuit into the music world, Suri has also ventured into acting—a passion she shares with both Tom and Katie. Just last year, the talented teenager starred as Morticia Addams in her high school play, “The Addams Family: A New Musical,” and according to reports, she nailed her performance.

Far from allowing herself to play to the advantages of nepotism, Suri wants to forge her acting path on her own merit. A media outlet reported that the high school senior, who will be graduating soon, made no mention of her parents in her biography for the play. Instead, she gave props to her fellow student cast, crew, and educators.

Although Suri Cruise has not used her parents’ names to level up in the entertainment industry, she has featured in some of her mom’s projects. She lent her vocal abilities to Katie’s 2022 movie “Alone Together,” and her mom’s directorial debut “Rare Objects.”

On working with her daughter, Katie previously gushed, “I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her! She’s very, very talented.”

In another interview last year, Katie spoke further about her experience collaborating with Suri, divulging, “But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is you have these projects and you become a family with people […] So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly.”

It’s no secret that Suri shares a very close relationship with her mom, Katie Holmes. In addition to what the “Dawson’s Creek” star has said about her beloved daughter, the duo are frequently seen doing mother-daughter activities together.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Suri’s dad who reportedly has not spent time with her in years. Adding fuel to their tense relationship is the fact that Suri decided to drop Tom’s last name after turning 18.

This bold decision was revealed during her performance in the musical “Head Over Heels” in New York. In the production, she reportedly played Princess Philoclea, a character originated by Alexandra Socha in the Broadway adaptation.

In the high school play’s casting sheet, she was credited as Suri Noelle. This name change reflects her choice to adopt her mother’s middle name, Noelle, from Katie’s full name: Kate Noelle Holmes.

The name change is also a notable departure from the name listed on her original birth certificate. The document confirmed that she was born Suri Cruise, inheriting the surname of her famous father.

Filed with the Los Angeles County Register-Recorder/County Clerk on May 8, 2006, the certificate itself has several peculiarities. Notably, Suri was born on April 18, yet the document wasn’t filed until 20 days later.

This delay was unusual as St. John’s Hospital typically files birth certificates within ten days of birth. According to a hospital, the lag occurred due to the absence of a parent or designated representative to sign the certificate. Interestingly, the certificate was signed by a person described as a friend, however, the signature remains illegible.

Another unusual occurrence is, Anne Heffernan, RNC, the Attendant or Certifier’s signature. Anne was not present in the delivery room, nor did she see the baby.

However, hospital representatives clarified that although it is standard for the attending doctor to sign, it is not mandatory, and as a result, Anne was authorized to sign in the doctor’s absence.

Now that Suri Noelle is 18, her legal adulthood grants her more than just the ability to change her name. It also empowers her to freely express her views about personal matters, including her relationship with her father and his Scientology beliefs.

Tony Ortega, who has researched Scientology for decades, shared, “Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to, and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say.”

Tony also explained that part of why Katie left when she did (when Suri was six), was because she would have witnessed what Tom’s other kids, Isabella and Connor Cruise, went through because of Scientology.

However, only time can tell if Suri is willing to open up about her personal life to the public. Up until her coming of age, the father and daughter have remained distant, with Tom filming “Mission Impossible 8” thousands of miles away from Suri, who celebrated her birthday in the US.
