Former NBA star Ron Artest, known as Metta World Peace, has made a bold prediction on social media, stating that Victor Wembanyama will break Wilt Chamberlain‘s iconic record of scoring 100 points in a single NBA game.
Chamberlain achieved this feat in a game where his team, the Philadelphia Warriors, beat the New York Knicks 169-147 back in 1962.
“Wem will be the first player to score 101+ in a game,” Metta World Piece wrote on X.
“He will surpass Wilt.”
Kobe came close to the record
Chamberlain‘s record is considered an unbreakable record in the league. The closest anyone came to it was Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 points in a game.
Wembanyama has generated immense interest as a rookie, drawing comparisons to LeBron James, but it’s a significant challenge to predict he’ll surpass Chamberlain‘s record.
The 19-year-old Frenchman is under considerable pressure, but he’s handling it well so far.
