The star onballer has confirmed on Instagram he will not return this year after suffering a lacerated spleen in the Demons’ loss to Collingwood on King’s Birthday.
Petracca previously came to the defence of Melbourne’s medical staff after suffering the internal injuries.
The elite midfielder returned to the field at the MCG after copping the injuries in a marking contest. Melbourne on Tuesday said Petracca’s pain “increased at half-time” before he was taken to hospital.
