Treasurer Jim Chalmers used more than 4000 words on Tuesday to set out his third federal budget.

It contained a string of big claims, from a $3.5 billion promise to reduce power bills to a $22.7 billion pledge to rebuild the Australian economy.

This is an abridged version of his speech, but with annotated notes about some of the things that Chalmers didn’t tell Australians.
