Amid the ecstasy of winning the Champions League final on Saturday, Jude Bellingham, 20, was already thinking about next season’s campaign and the potential arrival of former Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe

On Sunday, it was revealed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano that Mbappe had ‘signed a contract to join the Spanish giants,’ ending a long-running transfer saga between him and his former club PSG.

Mail Sport understands that Mbappe’s much-anticipated move to Madrid had been given the green light earlier this season, with some of Carlo Ancelotti’s players speculating about the Frenchman’s arrival in the Madrid dressing room.

Considering Madrid’s current cohort of players, which includes superstars like Vinicius Jr and Bellingham, it is a frightening thought to think that the 15-time Champions League winners could now be set to welcome France World Cup winner Mbappe as well as exciting prospect Endrick to the club next season.

After Saturday’s Champions League victory, Bellingham delivered his verdict on the PSG superstar’s potential move, claiming that Mbappe can fill a void that Madrid have been missing.

‘We don’t know for sure if that will happen!’ Bellingham said to TNT Sports after Madrid’s Champions League final victory.

‘But if it the case [that Mbappe joins] then it would be great. A player like him… I think tonight we saw that the only thing we need is a real striker.

‘I think if he came along and gave us that, it would take us to another level.

‘He’s one of the best players in the world.’

Mbappe’s move to Madrid will bring an end to his seven-year spell at the Parc des Princes after he initially joined the Ligue 1 champions on loan from Monaco in 2017.

During his glittering career, Mbappe has won countless trophies, including seven Ligue 1 titles, a World Cup, a Nations League and four French Cups.

But he is yet to be victorious in Europe, and will move to Madrid in hopes he can finally win the Champions League.

In a video on his X account, Romano said: ‘Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid… HERE WE GO.

‘The saga is finally over. Kylian Mbappe joins Real Madrid as a free agent at the end of the season.

‘The contract has been signed, the announcement will be really soon, in the next weeks, but Real Madrid will have one more star in their squad.

‘Kylian Mbappe joins from PSG and it’s an historic HERE WE GO.’

Mbappe’s contract at PSG will expire this summer and should he move to Madrid, he’ll join as a free agent.

Tensions have flared between Mbappe and PSG in recent years after the PSG star seemingly refused to agree a contract extension.

There is talk that should Mbappe move to PSG he will be used as a No 9, slotting in between Rodrygo and Vinicius Jnr as the spear head of Madrid’s front three.

PSG bosses had seemingly frozen him out of first-team training last year, exiling him to their B team, while also excluding him from their 2023 tour of Japan amid his refusal to sign a new deal.

While his exit had been expected for some time, he announced on Friday, May 10 that this would be his final season at PSG.

‘I wanted to speak to you. I’ve always said that I would speak with you when the time comes, and so I wanted to announce to you all that it’s my last year at Paris Saint-Germain,’ he said.

‘I will not extend and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks.

‘I will play my last game at the Parc des Princes on Sunday. It’s a lot of emotion; many years where I had the chance and the great honour to be a member of the biggest French club – one of the best in the world – which allowed me to arrive here, to have my first experience in a club with a lot of pressure.

‘To grow as a player of course, by being alongside some of the best in history – some of the greatest champions; to meet a lot of people, to grow as a man as well, with all the glory and the mistakes I’ve made.

‘It’s hard, and I never thought it would be this difficult to announce that, to leave my country, France, Ligue 1, a championship I have always known, but I think I needed this – a new challenge after seven years.’

L’Equipe had also reported that Mbappe would be unveiled by Real Madrid on Monday, following their Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

Reports earlier this year had claimed that Real and Mbappe were set to agree an eye-watering £85million sign-on fee for the France World Cup winner to join the Spanish club.
