Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to a tragic 16-year-old boy killed by a falling tree as he ‘tried to earn some extra pocket money’.

Kamil Hubert was killed after being hit by a fallen tree in Rotherham Baulke, Carlton-in-Lindrick, near to the border with South Yorkshire, on Saturday at 11.21am. Kamil died at the scene and three people were arrested in connection to the tragedy.

Heartbreakingly, Kamil had finished his GCSEs on the day before he died and has been described as a “kind and loving boy”. It is thought he may have been trying to earn a little extra pocket money by helping out.

According to a resident, Kamil was on the ground holding a rope while workers above him were cutting branches with a chainsaw when a large section of the tree tragically fell on him, reports the Mirror.

“It’s heartbreaking and really sad that a young boy trying to earn a few extra pennies can die in this way,” a resident said.

Today, floral tributes were laid outside a property, alongside teddy bears and other heartfelt keepsakes. A friend remembered Kamil, saying: “You’ll be remembered for your cheeky smile and the jokes you’d crack. Can’t believe it was only yesterday I saw you on the way to work, forever 16.”

A lot of lives have been affected by this tragic news,” while another mourned, “He was the nicest boy on the planet”.

A GoFundMe campaign has also been set up to raise money for his devastated family while events, raffles and a balloon release are being organised in his memory. The GoFundMe campaign reads: “My aunt’s 16 year old son tragically died. He just finished his GCSE’s the day prior to the incident. We are trying to help her raise money to cover the costs of the funeral for him.

“Kamil was a kind and loving boy who was taken away from us way too early. If you can, please donate to help us give him the send off that he deserves.”

The GoFundMe has already raised a staggering £5,330 for Kamil’s family. Alongside the online fundraiser, the Carlton-in-Lindrick Club is holding an event in his honour on June 22 after family and friends hold a poignant balloon release. Donations can be made to the club before Friday, June 21.

They shared on their Facebook page: “They have asked for everyone attending to wear blue to celebrate his life. PLEASE SHARE AND HELP RAISE AS MUCH AS WE CAN XXX.”

Police tape is still surrounds the area as detectives delve into the case and three individuals are being interrogated. A touching notice has been posted in the window of the local Premier store and Post Office, raising funds for the bereaved family with the words “Forever 16” and “Forever missed” printed on it.

Flowers, heartfelt tributes and fizzy drinks have been left by grieving individuals at the site. Meanwhile, shocked strangers have sent their love and thoughts to Kamil’s family over social media. One person said: “Such a tragedy. Thoughts are with the boys family at this devastating time.”

Another added: “This is absolutely heartbreaking news. That poor young man had the whole of his life to live for and his poor family. I cannot begin to imagine.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all his loved ones. Sleep in peaceful sleep lovely young man.”

Two men, aged 28 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and one woman, 28, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. You can donate to the campaign here.
