The teams are out!

This year’s Women’s FA Cup is mere minutes away from starting.

Both sides are out and have shaking hands as they line up to hear the England’s national anthem ring out.

Disappointment from United fans

Kathryn Batte reports…

Interesting that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has chosen to attend the men’s fixture at Old Trafford over coming to Wembley – a decision that has not gone down well with the Manchester United fans I spoke to around the stadium here.

Wembley starting to fill up now and there’s a great atmosphere building!

In terms of the game itself, expecting it to be a close one. Grace Clinton will be a big miss for Spurs.

United perhaps have the better options off their bench too.

Manchester United Team News

United remain without Gabby George, Emma Watson, and Jess Simpson through injury.

However their squad has been bolstered by the return of right-back Jayde Riviere.

Tottenham Team News

Tottenham have annouced their starting 11 as they are without midfielder Grace Clinton.

Clinton is ineligble to play in today’s final for Spurs as they face her parent club.

Do you get Deja-vu?

Manchester United have arrived at Wembley and some players may be experiening some Deja-vu

As they find themselves back in the exact same position as this time last year.

The only difference…

They face Tottenham today instead of Chelsea.

The game continues to grow…

As mentioned before this will be the first ever meeting between the two in a final setting.

The two have made exceptional strides in the women’s game, both gaining promotion to England’s top flight in the 2019-20 season.

Since then they two have been trying to find their feet in a league dominated by Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.

If this is anything to go by it proves the gap between them and the WSL’s top dogs is narrowing each year.

Tottenham arrive at Wembley

The North London side have their eyes set on winning Tottenham’s first major trophy in recent years.

Spurs captain Bethany England spoke with Mail Sport’s Kathryn Batte over Tottenham’s trophy heartache ahead of today’s game.

England said delivering a first piece of silverware for Spurs would be incredibly special.

It would rank very highly because I’d feel like I’ve been a part of something that I’ve been able to grow. When I joined Chelsea, they were already champions, they were a winning team. To be able to bring that type of mentality to Tottenham and try and lift the team with it would be amazing. If it does happen I think I’d probably be a bit speechless.’

Previous meetings…

If the recent dress rehearsal for today’s final is anything to go by…

We are in for a thriller!

The pair met only last month in the WSL, playing out a 2-2 draw which saw Spurs concede an agonising stoppage-time equaliser as Maya Le Tissier slotted home United’s second in the 92nd minute.

Both Le Tissier and Melvine Malard found the back of the net for United that day, whilst England’s Bethany England and Jessica Naz scored for Vilahamn’s side.

Spurs’ path to Wembley

Manchester United will be the more rested side out of the two coming into today’s final as the other semi-final between Tottenham and Leicester City had to be decided in extra-time.

To the delight of Spurs fans and the heartbreak of Leicester City’s, Tottenham striker Martha Thomas came on to score the winning goal in extra-time to take Tottenham to their first FA Cup final, after Spurs forward Jessica Naz equalised with eight minutes to go to force extra-time.

Manchester United’s route to Wembley

Marc Skinner’s United side return to Wembley for back-to-back FA Cup finals today after they stunned holders Chelsea in the semi-finals.

The girls in red overcame Emma Hayes’ Blues in style, scoring two goals in the opening 25 minutes to put the game to bed before Chelsea could ever really get going.

United’s early brace was enough to knock the holders out on a scoreline of 2-1.

It is the first time in five years that United had beaten Chelsea and what a time they chose to do it.

History awaits at Wembley…

A new name will be engraved on the Women’s FA Cup final today as Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspurs at a Sold-out Wembley stadium.

It will be the first time a team that is not Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester City will lift the trophy since 2005.
