Mason Greenwood has reportedly given Juventus the all-clear to sign him this summer, having identified the Serie A club as his preferred choice upon leaving Manchester United.

The 22-year-old forward, who has not featured for the Red Devils since he was arrested in January 2022 for attempted rape, assault and coercive control — charges that were subsequently dropped 13 months later — enjoyed a fruitful short loan spell at Getafe last season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists.

United, who completed their own internal investigation into the charges, are expected to sell the Manchester United star permanently this summer — and Juventus currently lead the race to land his signature.

According Sky Sports in Italy, Greenwood has told Juventus that they are his priority in the transfer window, giving the green light to a summer move.

Manchester United, who last night confirmed that Erik ten Hag would remain as Red Devils manager after an end-of-season review, are believed to want £42million for the former England international.

The Old Lady are reportedly prepared to offer just £25m for Greenwood, although may be able to offer more after raising funds from the possible departures of Federico Chiesa and Matias Soule.

Chiesa is attracting interest from Liverpool while Soule is linked with Tottenham, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.

While keen to raise money for Greenwood, Juventus are also looking to sign Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, who impressed as the Midlands club qualified for the Champions League last campaign.

Manchester United, who were weighing up whether or not to sack Ten Hag before confirming he would be staying, are now discussing a new contract with the Dutchman, despite sounding out potential candidates after an underwhelming season at Old Trafford which saw his side finish eighth.

Sources have disclosed that Ten Hag’s case was strengthened by the club’s shock FA Cup Final victory over rivals Manchester City.

Mail Sport understands that United officials want to see how Ten Hag operates under what they believe will be a new structure aimed at ensuring he is given the best opportunity to succeed.
