Luka Doncic, once again, shocked the basketball world on Friday night, dropping a Dallas Mavericks franchise-record 73 points in a 148-143 win over the Atlanta Hawks. This comes after Joel Embiid put up 70 a few days ago alongside Karl-Anthony Towns‘ 62, while Devin Booker scored 62 on Friday as well.
But Doncic did all his damage on just 33 shots, marking the fewest amount of field goal attempts needed to reach 70 points. It’s the most points in a game since Kobe Bryant’s 81 in 2006 and tied for the fourth-most in NBA history.

Kyrie Irving followed Doncic into the locker room, where he was doused with water by his teammates.
Grant Williams, Doncic’s teammate, went the humorous route to celebrate his performance. Granted, he stole it from Nicolas Batum after Embiid’s 70-point night.
The Mavs’ second-leading scorer on the night, Josh Green with 21 points, couldn’t believe what he witnessed. He likened it to playing NBA 2K, although he’s never even seen that type of performance done in the video game.
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green took a slight shot at the Hawks, the team that swapped Doncic for Trae Young in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan is flabbergasted by some of the recent performances, and thinks we might see someone hit the century mark at some point.
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban loved what he saw.
As always, Magic Johnson was left in awe.
Kevin Garnett had a reference to the discussions following Luka getting a fan ejected from a game the other night.
