Players from Slovenia, Finland, Germany, Australia, Japan, Cape Verde, Georgia and Venezuela were woken by the alarms at 04:00 local time.

“I didn’t sleep much, it was crazy, a bit scary,” said Luka Doncic, one of those affected, when asked about the event.

North Korea later confirmed that it was not a missile, but a second failed attempt to launch a spy satellite.
