Robbery mastermind Piran Ditta Khan will be sentenced today for the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.

Sharon was shot and killed as she responded with colleague PC Teresa Milburn to reports of a robbery at the Universal Express travel agents in Bradford on November 18, 2005.

Other members of the gang involved have previously been sentenced, but mastermind Khan, 75, was able to evade justice for nearly 20 years and last year was extradited from Pakistan to the UK to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Jurors in April took just 18 hours and 44 minutes to convict him of murder, two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

He will be sentenced today by The Honourable Mr Justice Hilliard. Proceedings are due to get started at 10.30am.

Updates will appear in the live blog below.
