Police are searching for a driver they believe was responsible for a crash that killed an Uber passenger in Brisbane’s south-west overnight.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, police had not tracked down the driver of a Ford Mondeo that crashed into the Uber vehicle at the intersection of Boundary and Progress roads in Wacol.

Ryan Grafton, 30, who was a passenger in the Uber, died at the scene of the crash in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

His fellow passenger Amelia Vinden, 26, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition with chest and abdominal pain.

The 42-year-old Uber driver Hussein Ali Mohamed was taken to the same hospital with suspected back injuries.

Grafton’s sister Lauren Bennett remembered her brother has a “kind uncle”.

“He was a kind, big-hearted person, who loved his family,” she told Nine News.
