The Scandinavian ­Airlines (SAS) flight was about to take off from Oslo for Heathrow last Wednesday.

The steward, based in London, was breathalysed and nicked after testing over the limit.

A source said: “The veteran crew member was staggering about and reeked of alcohol.

“He was breathalysed on the spot and nicked after testing positive.

“He was way over the limit. Now he faces court and his flying career is in tatters.”

SAS said: “We take incidents like this very seriously and have very clear processes and systems in place for how to deal with such.

“However we do not comment any further or give more details as we treat this as a confidential and individual personnel case.”
