Real Madrid are closing in on the La Liga title and will be just a point away from regaining their crown should they overcome Cadiz on Saturday.

With Girona falling off in 2024 and Barcelona’s resurgence arriving a few months too late, Madrid’s title success has long been regarded as an inevitability. Their recent victory in El Clasico all but confirmed their title triumph.

However, Carlo Ancelotti will have more than a mere eye on the second leg of Madrid’s Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich when they welcome the relegation-threatened Cadiz to the Bernabeu this weekend.

A Vinicius Junior brace means Los Blancos will take a 2-2 draw into the return leg on home soil.

Madrid’s priorities mean there should be plenty of rotation this weekend, with Cadiz fighting for their lives towards the bottom of La Liga. The visitors, who were beaten 3-0 in the reverse fixture, currently sit 18th in the table and are five points adrift of safety with just five games remaining. They need all the points they can muster.

Here’s 90min’s preview of Saturday’s game.

Expect wholesale changes to Ancelotti’s XI for Saturday’s La Liga clash.

There will be a first start of the season for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, while fringe players Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz and Dani Ceballos are all in contention for starting berths.

Madrid were handed an injury scare on Friday as Aurelien Tchouameni limped out of training and the midfielder is unlikely to be risked this weekend.

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Cadiz (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Vazquez, Militao, Nacho, Garcia; Camavinga, Modric; Guler, Diaz, Ceballos; Joselu.

The visitors head into Saturday’s game with a mountain of injuries with many players sustaining long-term issues.

Cadiz are set to be without Jose Mari, Rominigue Kouame, Luis Hernandez, Federico San Emeterio and Jorge Mare this weekend. Aiham Ousou is a doubt with a knock.

Cadiz predicted lineup vs Real Madrid (4-4-2): Ledesma; Carcelen, Hernandez, Chust, Pires; Alejo, Alex, Alcaraz, Navarro; Juanmi, Gomez.

Cadiz are scrapping for their lives at the bottom, while Madrid will be heavily rotated for Saturday’s game as they coast to the title.

Ancelotti’s squad is laden with quality and there will be a few players with points to prove. The hosts have lost one La Liga game all season and, while this will be far from a classic, Madrid should cruise to three points.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-0 Cadiz
