Huddersfield double murderer Rashane Douglas attempted to destroy evidence and cover his tracks before handing himself in to the police.
Douglas, 19, of Jade Place, Fartown, was found guilty of the murder of 19-year-old Haider Shah and 21-year-old Joshua Clark on October 1 last year at a trial held at Bradford Crown Court. He was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 28 years today.
Now, West Yorkshire Police have shared footage which shows Douglas attempting to cover his tracks after the murders outside a nightclub in Commercial Street, Halifax. In the CCTV footage, Douglas, alongside Yaseen Iqbal, 18 of Hall Bower, just outside Huddersfield, who was found guilty of assisting an offender, can be seen leaving an address to dispose of Douglas’ clothes worn at the time of the murder.
The pair appear wearing hoods and jogging trousers, carrying small bags, before walking out of frame. More footage can also be seen, showing Douglas just after the attack, running along New Road.
He soon stops, and begins to look around before hurriedly disposing of the knife he had used in the attack down a drain. Douglas then begins to run away once again.

Further CCTV footage goes on to show Douglas entering the nightclub in Commercial Street. It was after leaving this club that Douglas committed the double murder and injured a third man.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Matt Holdsworth of the force’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “While the sentence given today will not bring Haidar and Josh back, we hope it will bring some degree of comfort to know that Douglas has now been brought to justice and had to answer for his actions.
“Two young men had their whole lives ahead of them and this tragic case illustrates only too well the appalling human cost of people carrying and using knives, and we hope it will serve as a very stark reminder to others of the terrible consequences of knife crime.
“What started as a night out with friends, ended in utter devastation for two families, friends and those across Calderdale. We will continue to educate and support ways to prevent young people from carrying knives.”
