We are bringing you all the latest weather updates from around the Yorkshire region as a yellow weather warning for rain has been issued. The heavens have opened across God’s County on Wednesday morning.

A potential deluge could be on the cards as Met Office experts have predicted a month’s worth of rain in just 36 hours this week. The yellow weather warning – covering large areas of the country – is in place until 6am on Thursday, May 23.

The warning means more travel disruption expected with worries some communities face being cut off. A Met Office spokesperson said there was uncertainty over where in England the heaviest rain would fall.

“Many places will see 30-40mm of rain, while a few areas may receive 60-80mm. There is also a small chance that a few upland areas could see much higher totals, in the order of 100-150mm.”
