Not many would disagree that the Huskies and Boilermakers were the two best teams in the nation throughout this season. This will be the first time two No. 1 seeds meet in the title game since 2017.
Edey and Clingan set to make history
This one should be special due to the way in which both teams control games: with their massive centers. Zach Edey is 7-foot-4. Donovan Clingan is 7-foot-2. The two will actually be making history on Monday.
It’s rare to see players as tall as Edey and Clingan be so adept at several aspects of the game. It should make for a must-watch matchup in the paint.
It’s surprising that we’ve only gotten one other National Championship matchup between two seven-footers, and it was a great one. Patrick Ewing’s Georgetown Hoyas got the better of Hakeem Olajuwon’s Houston Cougars in 1984.
Ewing and Olajuwon went on to make 23 All-Star teams combined. They turned into two of the best centers the NBA has ever seen.
